Description

China enshrines different “Worlds”. It is one of the most important economies in the world and faces the challenges of the future with strength and competitiveness without fearing changes. Nevertheless, China maintains its precious traditions and draws energy and inspiration from its millennial culture. With 56 ethnic groups and some of the world’s oldest philosophy, China is yet to be discovered and has a lot to offer to international students looking forward to a rewarding experience. The Chinese Worlds Program (CWP) at HNU provides students with a comprehensive learning experience that combines China Studies and Chinese Culture courses and attendance to workshops of Chinese martial arts and calligraphy, with visits to museums, cultural and historical heritage sites, urban and rural development projects, and enterprises. HANGZHOU NORMAL UNIVERSITY

Founded as a teacher training school in 1908, Hangzhou Normal University has a history of over 100 years, which has bestowed the institution with a glorious tradition of producing first-rate teachers and educators at different levels for the whole Chinese nation. Through a century’s development, the University has now become a comprehensive institution of higher education with a full spectrum of disciplines, covering such areas as arts and sciences, humanities, education, music, engineering, information technology, business, law, medicine and nursing

  • Visits to Chinese enterprises
  • Visit to Hangzhou historical centre (Lingyin Temple, West Lake and Longjing Tea plantations, Art Academy)
  • Visit to Xixi Wetland Park and Real estate development project
  • Visit to Hangzhou CBD and Qiantan River
  • Field Trip to Shanghai (2 days), including lectures on Large-scale urban regeneration projects (at Shanghai University) and guided tour to Shanghai Shikumen, Bund and Concessions and urban development projects
  • Field Trip to Xuling ancient village @Sunshine Ecovillage Network (3 days), including lectures on: Chinese Traditional Medicine, Tourism and the rural revitalization strategy and workshops (e.g. Chinese Taijiquan, Chinese Tea culture, Chinese Food culture, Chinese calligraphy)
  • Chinese traditional music concert
